At the Tokyo Game Show last Wednesday, Square-Enix announced at the Sony press conference that Final Fantasy X (2001) is to arrive on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita for the game’s 10th Anniversary. While no other details have been given, we are to expect fully HD graphics to bring the PS2 hit into the next generation. According to Shinji Hashimoto, the versions on the PS3 and Vita will be very similar as the hardware of the new handheld is very alike to the PS3, despite the difference in size.
The re-release is still in production, with no confirmed release date, so hopefully we will see more revealed on this in the coming months.
I’d be interested to see what changes they might make to the original material, although a faithful port of FFX would be fine by me. But could this also pave the way for the Final Fantasy VII remake fans have wanted for so long? We’d love to know your thoughts in the comments. Only time will tell!
