Tidus is a very cheerful young character who came to Spira from Zanarkand
1000 years before.
He used to play for the Zanarkand Abes and was one of the best at
the underwater sport: Blitzball.
Tidus hates his father, Jecht, for leaving him and his mother years
ago and never returning.
Jecht would also tease Tidus for not being good at Blitzball when
he was small as Jecht was the best player at the time.
Tidus is quite a likeable character who gets caught up in the problems
of Sin and Spira.
When he meets the lady summoner, Yuna, and her guardians he realises
that his world has been turned upside down and he may never return
to his home.
Tidus is very swift and can defeat even the fastest of enemies.
Note: Because you can choose Tidus' name in the beginning, no one
actually says it during the game! Which is a very strange decision
to make, as everyone has to say 'you', 'him' etc... Poor Tidus... |

Yuna is a beautiful young Summoner who has just completed her training.
A Summoner's job is to travel all around Spira visting temples and
praying there to be granted the power of Aeons, the powerful forces
of the Fayth that aid them in battle.
The end of the Summoner's path is to face Sin, the great monster that
terrorizes Spira, and defeat it, bringing a ten year 'Calm'.
Yuna has a great destiny on her shoulders, as her father is the High
Summoner Braska, who defeated Sin ten years ago, but despite this
she will always be seen smiling. She believes that she must do all
she can to protect Spira and bring happiness wherever she is, even
if inside she is in despair.
Yuna is not a strong fighter, instead she heals the party with White
Magic and calls upon the power of Aeons. |

Rikku is a very energetic young teenager who specialises in Machina
and can speak Al Bhed.
She has a very positive attitude and is constantly bouncing around.
Rikku first meets Tidus when she was salvaging Machina from under
the sea with her father, Cid.
Rikku joins the gang much later though, when trying to kidnap Yuna.
Rikku says she was doing it to protect 'Yunie' as she is Rikku's cousin
and she cares deeply about Yuna. Rikku believes that the Pilgrimage
that a Summoner has to go through is wrong and that there must be
another way to beat Sin.
Her friendship with Wakka is tested somewhat, as Wakka thinks that
Al Bhed's are evil, but he gradually comes to except that maybe he
was the evil one in the first place. Being an expert with all things
Al Bhed, Rikku is very valuable to the party, for translating, negotiating
and destroying Machina. |

Auron was one of Braska's Guardians, when he set out to defeat Sin,
ten years ago, along with a man named Jecht.
He was the one who rescued Tidus from Zanarkand 1000 years ago and
brought them both to Spira, but they were seperated and Auron doesn't
meet him again until you go to Luca. Auron then travels with your
party as he did with Braska and Jecht ten years before.
Auron is one of those mysterious, strong and silent types, but when
he speaks it is always words of wisdom.
He is an incredibly powerful warrior and can slice through even the
hardest armour. |

Wakka plays Blitzball, (just like Tidus 1000 years ago) for the Besaid
Aurochs. Sadly since the death of his brother, Chappu, Wakka lost
the spirit for the sport and hasn't won a game in ten years. The loss
of his brother has also caused Wakka to follow Yevon unquestionably,
distrust and dislike anyone Al Bhed and fear Machina. The party try
to hide from him that Rikku is Al Bhed and because Rikku's father,
Cid is Yuna's uncle (making Rikku and Yuna cousins) the group also
try to stop Wakka from finding out that Yuna is part Al Bhed.
Sadly it eventually leaks out and Wakka is distraught. But he comes
to realise that Al Bhed are not truly evil, and neither are Machina.
As time goes by, he also finds out that Yevon is not all as it should
be as well.
Wakka is an easy going guy, who's precise Blitzball technique makes
him excellent at shooting down flying enemies. |

Lulu is a very serious and elegant Guardian for Yuna, yet treats her
affectionately like a little sister.
She is extremely valuable to the group early on, for her incredible
Black Magic abilities, but later on normal attacks can quite easily
take on elemental enemies, making Lulu only useful for hard elemental
enemies and bosses.
She is usually quiet, but will step forward if there is any sign of
a battle. She also likes to explain Spira's history to Tidus and clearly
has a soft spot for him and Wakka. |

Kimahri has been watching over Yuna since she was very young and continues
to do so now.
He was disgraced on Mt. Gagazet when his horn broke and was banished.
He is incredibly tall, powerful and fierce, and will do anything for
Yuna.
Kimahri does not speak often, if at all, and his words are usually
very few, as his English isn't very good.
Being in the middle of the Sphere Grid and having a very small area
himself, he can have any path you want and becomes one of your adequate
members who has many abilities, making him a very useful character. |

Seymour Guado becomes the new Maester of Yevon just after his father
dies under suspicious circumstances. Being half human and half Guado,
he tries to bring peace to the two races, but he has a hidden agenda.
Tidus first meets Seymour at Luca and dislikes him instantly.
Seymour owns one of the most powerful Aeons, given to him by his mother,
however the Aeon, Anima, is not just powerful. Anima is pure evil;
a sick and twisted monster, that should never have been created.
With Seymour's scaringly calm and whispery voice you would never think
that something so twisted and evil was lurking inside...
He uses magic as his main weapon, very strong magic as well.

High Summoner Braska was the one who defeated Sin ten years ago, along
with Auron and Jecht
Braska is very similar to Yuna, they both want what's best for Spira,
even if it means sacrificing everything they have.
Name - Jecht

Job - Blitzball Champion
Japanese Voice - Masuo Amada

Even though Jecht is Tidus' father, Tidus hates him for leaving his
mother, who died soon after.
Jecht being a Blitzball Champion, would tease and criticise Tidus
when he tried to copy his dad's moves.
Although Jecht is quite rough, he can be very easy going.
When Tidus meets Yuna, he talks about his father, but apparantly there
was another Jecht. This Jecht was one of Braska's trusted Guardians.
Jecht should have been famous throughout Spira when Sin was defeated,
but he disappeared completely when the Calm came. So Yuna thinks that
it is destiny when Tidus comes along and just happens to have a dad
called Jecht.
Name - Yunalesca

Yunalesca was the first Summoner to ever defeat Sin. She is extremely
powerful and must not be taken lightly at all.
She resides in the Zanarkand Temple to guide people as to using the
'Final Summoning' which is what she believes as the only way to defeat
Sin and give Spira hope.
Despite Yunalesca being Yuna's namesake, they are not similar at all.
They may both be Summoners but their beliefs are opposites.
